Eligibility Requirements
Scholarships are awarded based on several factors such as academic success, donor-stipulated criteria, and financial need based on the FAFSA. Financial Aid office will award scholarships based on the mentioned factors.
Federal Aid
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
The FSEOG is a federal grant awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional need as determined by the FAFSA.
Eligibility:
Students who qualify for a Federal Pell Grant will receive priority for FSEOG funds.
Award Amount:
Yearly award amount for the 2024-2025 academic year is $1,000
To apply for an FSEOG, students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form so Antioch College can determine student’s level of financial need.
Pell Grant
Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree. A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances.
Eligibility Requirements:
· U.S. Citizenship
· Incarcerated and enrolled in an approved prison education program
· Enrollment into an eligible college
· Don’t already have a bachelor’s, graduate or professional degree
· Display exceptional financial need based on the FAFSA submission
Award Amount:
The maximum Federal Pell Grant award is $7,395. The amount depends on student’s financial need, status as a full-time or part-time student, and plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.
Students will need to fill out the FAFSA every year to reestablish your eligibility for a Pell Grant.
Federal Direct Loans
Direct Loans are federal student loans provided by the U.S. Department of Education to help students pay for their education. They come with favorable terms and conditions, including low-interest rates and flexible repayment options. There are two main types of Direct Loans available:
Direct Subsidized Loans
These loans are available to undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need. The U.S. Department of Education pays the interest on these loans while the student is in school at least half-time, during the grace period, and during deferment periods.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Students must complete FAFSA
· Eligibility is based on factors such as enrollment status, financial need (for subsidized loans), and satisfactory academic progress
· U.S. Citizenship
Amount:
The amount of Direct Loans a student can borrow depends on their year in school and whether they are considered dependent or independent. Annual and aggregate borrowing limits apply.
Direct Parent Plus loan
Direct PLUS Loans are federal loans available to parents of dependent undergraduate students to help cover the cost of their child’s education.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Students must complete FAFSA
· Parents must complete a Direct PLUS loan application and pass a credit check
· Eligibility is based on borrower’s credit history
Amount:
Parents can borrow up to the total cost of education minus any other financial aid.

Policies
- Satisfactory Academic Progress: Federal and state regulations require that students maintain a certain level of academic performance in order to be eligible for financial aid. This is known as Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). According to federal regulations, students who fail to make SAP in their education program will lose their eligibility to receive Federal Student Aid (FSA) funds (i.e., financial aid).
- GLBA Information Security Program Policy
- Safeguard Rules Under the Gram-Leach-Bliley Act
- Return to Title IV policy: The Federal “Return of Title IV Funds” legislation requires that when a student completely withdraws on or before completing 60% of the term, the amount of financial aid (federal grants and loans) earned must be calculated. The school and/or student may then be required to return some of the federal funds awarded to the student. The percentage of Title IV aid to be returned is equal to the number of calendar days remaining in the semester divided by the total number of calendar days in the semester. If a student received more aid than was earned, the excess funds must be returned.
