Types of Aid
Antioch College awards millions in scholarships and grants each year to help families meet full demonstrated need.
Scholarships and grants from the institution, federal government, and other sources directly lower the sticker price for students and their families. We do our very best to ensure that Antioch is affordable and assessable to students who are admitted and who wish to attend.
Apply for financial aid by using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. (Antioch College School Code: 042443)

Federal Student Aid
The U.S. Department of Education awards more than $120 billion a year in grants, work-study funds, and loans to more than 13 million students. Federal student aid covers such expenses as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. Aid also can help pay for other related expenses, such as a computer and dependent care. Thousands of schools across the country participate in the federal student aid programs; ask the schools you’re interested in whether they do! Learn more at studentaid.ed.gov.
Grants
Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree. For the 2019–2020 award year (July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020), the maximum Federal Pell Grant award is $6,195. The amount you are eligible for is dependent upon a number of variables such as:
- your financial need,
- your cost of attendance,
- your status as a full-time or part-time student, and
- your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.
Loans
The William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program is the largest federal student loan program. Under this program, the U.S. Department of Education is your lender. There are three types of Direct Loans available:
-
Direct Subsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need to help cover the costs of higher education at a college or career school.
-
Direct Unsubsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, but in this case, the student does not have to demonstrate financial need to be eligible for the loan.
- Direct PLUS Loans are loans made to graduate or professional students and parents of dependent undergraduate students to help pay for education expenses not covered by other financial aid.
Any first-time borrower must complete online entrance counseling as well as the Master Promissory Note using Antioch’s Direct Loan code: G42443. More information on the loan process is available at https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action.
Student Employment
Student employment opportunities offered by the College are filled by each department based on their respective guidelines and timeline. Students’ financial aid awards are not considered in the hiring process. To be considered for a position, a student may need to fulfill one or more of the following: complete a job application, submit a resume and be interviewed by a representative of the department that is offering the position. Students may be employed throughout the College community and it is recommended that they not work more than 20 hours per week. There is no requirement from the Office of Financial Aid that would preclude any student from applying for or accepting a job offer.
