Richard McPherson Lundy died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
He was born on February 16, 1925 to Pauline McPherson Lundy and Lindley Linton Lundy.
In August 1949, he married Leona Stepek ’50, and they have three sons: Steven, married to Sue, in Colchester, Vermont; David, married to Jo, in Aurora, Col; and Todd in Denver, Col. They have five grandchildren: Jamien, married to Chris Forrest, in Jericho, Vermont; Erin, married to Scott Carlson, in Aurora, Col.; Tyler Lundy, married to Molly, in Littleton, Col.; Eric Lundy, in Burlington, Vermont; and Matt Lundy, in Steamboat Springs, Col. They also have seven great grandchildren.
After attending public school in Wilmington, Ohio, Lundy served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, including 18 months in Europe with the 250th Combat Engineers Battalion.
He attended Antioch College from 1946 to 1950, and Ohio State University from 1950 to 1954 in the study of clinical psychology.
He was a member of the Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin from 1954 to 1962, and a member of the Department of Psychology at Penn State University from 1962 to 1991.
He has been associated with the Society for Directors of Clinical Psychology Training Programs; the American Psychological Association; the Board of Pennsylvania Psychological Examiners; the Journal and Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis; the Center County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board; the Youth Service Bureau; the Penn State Tennis Club; the Tussey Mountain Ski Club; the Boy Scouts; and the Little League.
No memorial service will be held. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College, Pa.
