Harold Lee Yarger, age 85, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Seguin, Texas. Harold was born March 15, 1940, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. After growing up on farms in Michigan and Virginia, he went to George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia. Harold attended Antioch College and then obtained a PhD in Physics at Stony Brook University where he met his wife, Linda. His career began at Northwestern University working in high energy physics. Two years later Harold accepted a joint appointment at the University of Kansas and the Kansas Geological Survey with a focus on geophysics. Later he went to work for Chevron, first in Denver and then in Houston. At Chevron Harold was a senior scientist using his gravity and magnetics expertise in oil exploration. Harold had a life-long love of running and competed in many marathons, including the Boston and Houston marathons. Harold was a quiet and kind man, whose love for his family was obvious. He will be greatly missed by Linda, his children, grandchildren and many others. His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Linda Yarger; children Ardis (David) Eveld, Rachel Yarger (Brad Meyer) and Stephen (Kim) Yarger; grandchildren: James Eveld, Anneliese (Evan) Reilly, Will Eveld, Claire Meyer, Haven Meyer, Ella Meyer, Charlsie Yarger and Harrison Yarger; and great-grandchild, Isla Reilly. He is preceded in death by his parents, James O. Yarger and Marian (Downing) Yarger, and his brother, Allen Paul Yarger. Services honoring Harold will be held on Saturday March 14, 2026, at St. James Church in Seguin Tx. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the St. James Parish Hall.
