Juneteenth 2021
On June 18, 2021, Antioch College will observe Juneteenth as an official holiday. This is the second year that we have adopted Juneteenth as an official holiday, following a motion brought before College Council in June 2020 by current student and Board of Trustee member Chris Chavers ’21.
Dr. Wahji Kasten ’02 Selected as Bloomberg Fellow
Dr. Wahji Kasten ’02, has been announced as one of this year’s Bloomberg Fellows at the John’s Hopkins School of Public Health.
Matt Walker ’04: Increasing Visibility for Trans Rights
“Trans Rights Are Human Rights” by multimedia artist and musician Matt Walker ‘04 has been selected by the Arts and Culture Commission of Yellow Springs in their Call to Action for lamp pole banners which was launched towards the end of December 2020.
Student-led Newspaper ‘The Record’ Makes a Comeback!
Student-run newspaper ‘The Record’ has been reestablished by S. Quinn Ritzhaupt ’23 and Jacob Philip ’23 who aim to publish in June.
Preserving Landmark Art Building
Michael Perea ’24 and Lola Nelson-Betz ’22 have released the trailer for the Ant Farm Art Building Creative Preservation Initiative (AFAAB) documentary, Awake and Dreaming, on May 10, 2021 – a film they directed as part of their Co-op with AFAAB.

Five Grants for Alums in 2021
Angel Nalubega ’18 Accepted to Princeton Theological Seminary
Angel Nalubega ’18, who majored in History at Antioch with a focus in Race and Ethnicity Studies, has been accepted to the three-year Master of Divinity program (MDiv) at Princeton Theological Seminary on a full scholar (The Francis Grimke Scholarship) to begin in the Fall.
