Experience Antioch: Online Auction FAQs

1. What is the purpose of this online auction?

This auction is designed to raise essential revenue for Antioch College. The funds generated will directly support the college’s mission and enhance the student experience, academic programs, and campus facilities. Every bid helps ensure that Antioch continues to provide transformative education for its students.

2. What types of experiences are being offered, and why were these chosen?

The auction offers 15 unique, campus-based experiences that money typically can’t buy—such as serving as “President for a Day” or enjoying a weekend wellness retreat on campus. These one-of-a-kind experiences were carefully curated to offer something unforgettable to our supporters, allowing them to connect with the campus in a meaningful way. Each experience starts with a minimum bid of $2,500, reflecting the exceptional nature of these opportunities.

3. Why didn’t the college solicit smaller items or contributions from alumni?

Due to limited staff capacity and time constraints, we decided to focus on creating high-value, immersive experiences rather than a large volume of smaller items. By concentrating on these exclusive opportunities, we aim to provide something truly special to our supporters while maximizing the funds raised for Antioch College. Smaller contributions remain valuable, and we appreciate the ongoing support from our alumni and friends of the college.

4. How can I bid on an item?

Visit our online auction platform, browse through the experiences, and place your bid on any of the listings. You’ll receive notifications if you are outbid, and you’ll have the option to increase your bid until the auction closes.

5. Do I need to create an account to bid on an item?

Yes, you’ll need to create an account on our auction platform to place a bid. This helps us track bids accurately and ensures we can contact you if you’re the winning bidder. Creating an account is quick and simple, and it also allows you to receive updates on your bids and other auction activity.

6. What happens if I win an item? How do I claim it?

Congratulations! If you are the highest bidder when the auction closes, a member of the Antioch College staff will contact you directly to arrange all the details, including scheduling and other logistics for your experience. We’ll make sure everything is in place for you to enjoy your time on campus.

7. What if I want to support the college but can’t participate in the auction?

We are deeply grateful for all forms of support! If you’re unable to participate in the auction but would like to make a gift to Antioch College, you can visit our website or contact our advancement office at advancement@antiochcollege.edu to explore other giving opportunities.

8. Are there any guidelines or restrictions for participating in the experiences?

Yes, each experience may have specific guidelines or requirements, which will be detailed in the item listing. Please review these before placing a bid. Experiences will generally be scheduled within a reasonable timeframe, with details arranged in coordination with our team. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

The auction will be live from November 1, 2024 until December 3, 2024. Winners will be notified shortly after the auction closes, and arrangements for the experiences will follow soon after.

About Fund Designations

The Annual Fund: One of the most effective ways to support students and faculty. Contributions make possible the unparalleled opportunity of an Antioch education by paying for the day-to-day operations of the College and sustaining the critical foundation upon which young Antiochians learn to win victories for humanity.

Student Success Fund: Supports student scholarships which make an Antioch education possible for deserving students.

Antioch College Works Program: The expanded program enabled Antioch to become the first Federal Work College in Ohio and offers all students to ability to:

(a) reduce the cost of tuition through an annual $4,500 work program tuition grant.
(b) participate in our ACW jobs program, including compensated employment during study terms.
(c) have the opportunity to engage in an international co-op experience with scholarship support.
(d) receive continued career advising and support of their post-baccalaureate goals.

Antioch College is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) institution. Accordingly, gifts to Antioch College are tax deductible as provided by law.
