Gladys Brown Dutrieuille, Chair of The Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC), has stated that PUC “says companies can’t turn off customers’ utilities during the COVID-19 pandemic” – writes Anna Danahy ’95 for State Impact Pennsylvania.
According to Dutrieuille, this means that utilities such as electric, natural gas, water, and telecommunications cannot be turned off due to late payments. This decision will last as long as Gov. Tom Wolf’s declaration of disaster, and for safety reasons, does not allow for terminations.
