Kentucky’s new governor Andy Beshear has appointed Eric Friedlander ’83 as deputy secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Friedlander is currently the chief resilience officer for the administration of Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and will lead Health and Family Services on an interim basis until a permanent secretary is appointed. Freidlander majored in economics at Antioch College.

Friedlander has more than 35 years of government experience, previous serving in the Steve Beshear administration overseeing human resources, budget and legislative departments of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Friedlander has also served as the executive director for the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs; had executive leadership roles in the Office of the Inspector General, Behavioral Health, Office of Health Policy (CON), Department for Income Support and Family Resource and Youth Services Centers, as well as serving as Deputy Secretary for the Cabinet.
