On Thursday, March 25, Associate Professor of History Dr. Kevin McGruder spoke as a panelist in the virtual seminar The Impact of Redlining on Black Americans: addressing racism in real estate, organized by Columbia University’s School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

After reading “In The Matters of Color: Race and the American Legal Process” by A. Leon Higginbotham ‘49, a group of Purdue alumni started a petition on Change.org to rename Elliot Hall – named for former president Edward C. Elliot who opposed improving the living conditions of Black student housing at Purdue University.
